Duke Rennie -- Professional Biography

Duke Rennie seemed to be born with skates on his feet.  He began skating at the tenderly young age of 2 years old.

He began his extraordinary competitive career at 9 years old speed skating indoors.

Duke quickly skated his way to the top competitive level and was consistently placing in the top five at all of his competitions.

Duke left the competitive speed skating world to pursue a World Championship title in one of the most extreme and electrifying forms of roller-skating – vertical half-pipe and pool skating.

Duke Rennie has been a pioneer and inspiration to hundreds, if not thousands of skaters across America and around the globe.  His name is synonymous with vertical skating and has always been thought of as the Godfather of vert roller-skating.

Duke can claim not only the most influential skate industry companies as those he has been sponsored by, but also global industry leading Fortune 100 companies such as Pepsi and Dodge have sponsored Duke Rennie to help them promote their products.

Duke Renie has been one of the most sponsored vertical roller skaters in history.

Duke has also performed in shows and contests all over the USA.  He has been on several national tours and has competed in events from coast to coast.   Duke was one of the key skaters with the world famous Pepsi stunt team and spent many years performing at Magic Mountain, Knott’s Berry Farm and the LA country Fair with the Gail Web Sports Show.

Duke Rennie has also been in more movies and appeared on TV more than any other skater in the sport. 

Duke Rennie has been in counter culture hits such as Skateboard Madness and did much of the skating stunt work for cult classic skate movies like Roller Boogie. 

Duke has been featured on the national television sport program CBS Wild World of Sports during the World Vertical Roller-Skating Championships held in Marina Del Rey, California.

 Lately Duke Renne has appeared in several of the Target + Mervyn's Beach Bash extreme sports events.  These events have had national TV coverage with Fox Sports and the extreme sports show 54321.  This event  celebrates the California lifestyle, this 3-day extreme sports and family festival features the world's top professional beach volleyball and extreme sports stars.  Close to 100,000 spectators filled the festival grounds as part of a continuing custom of family fun in the sun.  For more information, log onto www.beach-bash.com.

Duke has been helping them with research and development and was featured in their promotional commercials.

Duke has also been traveling to every major skate park in Southern California skating and has been generating some tremendous excitement about the sport.

Because of his unique "side stance" skating style, and the special super wide trucks he uses for his skates, he attracts a crowd whenever he shows up to skate.

Duke will also be showcased at the first major vertical roller-skating contest lately at the Monsters of Roll event to be held later this year at Woodward West, the premiere skate facility on the West Coast.

This year the Monsters of Roll will have a big finale at the new Woodward West location. This event combines some core pro street skating events, park skating and vert contest with an amateur series as well.
